INTRODUCING

The Story & The Event

After writing his first monologue as an actor, Axel wanted more. When he shared an idea for a more fun way to do theater with director & producer Marinés Soria, they decided to team up to test a theater+party concept.
The idea: if theater was more like a party, more people would go to the theater more often.

Here's what you'll experience:
  • 2 Short films (30 mins) & Clips.
One by Marc Esquirol, an up-and-coming director from Barcelona whose films are in festivals across Europe. One by Max Millstein, a movie director based in NYC.
Witty-humored intermezzo clips by writer Evan Frolov
  • Theater (40 mins)
2 Monologues in English by Latin American Actors who recently moved to NYC
1 Dialogue in Spanish by Spanish & Peruvian Actors (translation provided in the digital brochure)
  • Party 🍸 BYOB
We will have a DJ and we all get to hang & meet after having been together through the theater & audiovisual experience.

Other things & FAQs

Where is it going to be?
It's going to be at the 3am Theater in Astoria a studio dedicated to offering performing artists from multiple disciplines the opportunity to experiment, explore their crafts, and connect with peers and audiences interested in fresh, innovative new work; and also to incubating and presenting works of circus, physical theater, modern dance, experimental music, and a cross-pollination of these art forms.
Who are you?
Writing this is me, Axel, I'm an actor from Barcelona who recently arrived in NYC.I also run a few other software projects, including ActorsBarcelona, which is where I'm hosting this event page :)
Marinés is a Creative Producer & Director from Peru who came to NYC a year ago. She said "Let's do it" when Axel was rambling about an idea at a birthday party and that's how it all came about.
Why are you doing this & why is it called The Dream Playground?
Because we like creating stuff and we are interested in creating new experiences for people.
As newly arrived New Yorkers we wanted to have our own platform to create our own luck and help other newly arrived people create theirs.
"The Dream Playground" embodies being playful and experimental while working towards our dreams.
Can I get involved?
Of course! Get in touch. We are open to all types of collabs
One more thing....

Are you an actor without time to find & apply to castings?

Axel has built an AI + Human system to help actors in NYC do the hustle work for you.
We already did this for actors in Barcelona and send over 30k castings per month.
